Arte Studio Ginestrelle
Through the Carclew Youth Arts Ruth Tuck Scholarship I had the opportunity to undertake a four-week residency at Arte Studio Ginestrelle, in Santa Maria Degli Angeli in Perugia, Italy. Arte Studio Ginestrelle is a 'retreat' type residency located in Mount Subasio near the medieval town of Assisi in central Italy. My intent in undertaking this residency was to research and develop new design and exhibition work, and complete a final exhibition piece for the residency's annual exhibition held in the town of Assisi.
I continued to develop work that I initiated while on residency in Vermont, USA in 2012, continuing to use steel, copper and brass wire to create larger-scale sculptural installations relating directly to the region.
My time at Ginestrelle was extremely rewarding and was successful through research and the generation of new work. I was incredibly lucky to have spent my time there with five other talented artists and writers and enjoy the history and culture of life on Mount Subasio.
